Prof. Zvi Carmeli
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the former Solo Violist of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Zvi Carmeli performs worldwide as both violist and conductor. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the European Community Chamber Orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, The New York String Orchestra, The Harmonices Mundi Orchestra Linz, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, and the Salzburg Kammerpilharmonie. As founder of the SoLaRe String Trio, which won first prize in the Netherlands Impresaariat Chamber Music competition, he has performed throughout Europe and the USA in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Herkules Hall Munich, the 92nd St. Y New York, and the Herbst Theater in San Francisco.
Carmeli currently serves as a senior lecturer of viola and chamber music teacher at the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance, while also holding a position as chamber music teacher and conductor at the Universität der Künste (UDK) – Julius Stern Institute in Berlin. He regularly gives master classes at international courses including the Lenk Sommer Academie in Switzerland, “Stage” in Spain, “Musica Mundi” in Belgium, “Peter de Groot” in Holland, Chieti Classica in Italy, “Viersener Musiksommer” and “Holzhausen Musiktagen” in Germany, and the Jerusalem Music Center Summer Courses and Perlman Music Program in Israel.
